bta feeding with clowns

i got a green bta the other night. my maroon clowns love it. but, when i try to feed it, it closes like it should, but the clowns keep pushing into it, until the BTA opens up again and the food floats ayway. anyone else have a problem feeding their BTA's because the clowns get in the way? should i shoo them away and try the strawberry basket trick? the BTA has only been in my tank since sat. night, and it's thriving. in fact, it's even BIGGER than it was in the store!!

try the strawberry basket trick. How big is the nem compared to the clowns. It should be 3 times bigger.

sounds like the BTA is getting the food, but the clowns are knockin it away.

will do. it's funny watching my maroons! they are VERY aggressive!! hope they don't hurt the BTA. but this on looks like it's holding up better than the last one.

I use tong type of things to feed my BTA, if i go in there quick it'll pull in like that. If i do it really slowly and lightly touch the tips of the anemone it'll grab it. Sometimes my clown will grab the food from the tongs and give it to the anemone.

yeah, exactly! it closes up on them, and they just HAVE to get in there!!! and the food does stick to the tentacles of the BTA, but yeah, the clowns knock it around.

will try again. but of course my BTA did an about face and is facing towards the back of my tank. i would post a pic, but, well, all you can see is it's foot.

ill try anything. the BTA is 3 times as big. i had another BTA that was pretty small. it seemed to be doing great until i bought the maroons. it squeezed itself into a little crack and died. TALK ABOUT STINK!!

Yes, and probably polluted your tank.

nah, it was small, and i got it out pretty quickly. plus i did a water change after. all param's are normal.

got my BTA to eat today. had to keep the clowns away. plus give a little bit of food to my 2 cleaner shrimp so they wouldn't try to steal my BTA's food.
