BTA food

I am pretty certain that they (BTA) are classified as predators in the wild. I know in captivity most of the successful BTA owners feed them a diet that is comprised of silversides, cut clams and as a treat mysis. I usually will soak them in seacon or zoecon to add extra nutrients, feed mine 3 times a week, but it gets mysis everyday from its host Clarkii.

I know they will form a symbiotic relationship with algea, much like coral. I know of this one gal who is an expert in BTA, perticularly RBTA, she never mentioned anything about feeding them zooplankton. Feeding them the silversides, mysis, etc, will be enough to mee their needs, she recommends 3 times a week.

I've been feeding mine raw pieces of cod fish from the grocery store. Is that good enough for him?

Hmmm if it is eating it, I cant really tell you what the difference would be. The silversides that I get from the LFS doesnt seem to be treated any different, it sure as hell smells like a frozen fish (stinks). I dont know, maybe someone else can chime in. It would certainly be a cheaper approach.

how do you guys feed them since he doesnt have high sweeper tentacles like some other Anemones?

I use a pair of long forcepts. I just place the food in the middle of the nem. He instantly grabs the food and then slowly swallows it whole.

As far as the cod fish being cost effective. The guy at the seafood counter didn't even charge me for the small piece that I got.
