I was moving my rocks around and i hadnt noticed that the BTA had attached to 3 separate rocks i lifted one of them and tore a piece off of him... i feel terrible... he hasnt shrunk much maybe about 1/2 his full size he is about 10" - 12" when full, right now the affected area is 1" but it was a piece of his foot and some tentacles... he is just kind of hiding in a low flow area in the corner of my tank the host clown is constantly inspecting the damage...

Should i feed him a little tonight ???
Should i do a small water change ???

id make sure he gets enough flow to keep bacteria and mucus off the injury and id wait a few days before a feeding or water changes dont want any unneccesary stresses on the nem right now.

Did you pull a piece completely off? I moved a rock next to my BTA and pulled a piece off. Now I have 2 BTAs. I was surprised that such a small piece became a fully functioning animal. It only took 2 days to recover. (I kept a close eye on the "piece" to pull it out if it started to decay.)

I didn't feed for a few days. I didn't want to cause further stress. I do have lots of flow as stated above.

The tear has expanded ALOT but it is ripping towards the mouth so i am hoping the nem is taking this oportunity to split... it has never split and its big.

I was moving my rockwork around about a month ago and my BTA which was about 10" was attached to two seperate large rocks on the bottom. I tried to be careful with them but I might have torn it slightly. I honestly don't know. It retracted some for a while and moved itself a little bit. Then, the mouth was gaping for a while and I thought it was on it's way out. A couple weeks later, I came down one morning and I had two BTAs. Now there's a small one and a large one that are very healthy. I was pretty suprised. The clowns host both of them. They haven't moved too far apart yet and keep moving around eachother competing for light.

Good luck with it.

Don't feed it and don't move it. IME, the key determinants as to whether the small portion will survive are whether the pedal disc portion is large enough to allow the anemone to continue to hold onto the substrate/glass and whether, after a day or two, it is able to cinch its split portion together. They can get kind of clumsy shortly after splitting so don't panic if it lets go and pull it from the tank.

Assuming the anemone was healthy to begin with and you provide good water conditions/lighting the larger portion will almost certainly survive.
