BTA keeps shrinking up.

What all do you guys need to know to help me fix it?


My BTA, been in the tank ~3 weeks and looks very healthy when inflated spends easily 50% of the time shrunk up into a little ball. My understanding is that this means it is trying to purge the water from it's system because the water is, in some way, unsuitable? Please tell me what all tests I should do, etc. to determine the cause of this problem.

I have the next 4 days off from work and I'd really like to put a big bite into the problem in this time.

nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, calcium, alk, salinity, temperature, lighting, where it is in the tank, filtering, etc. other inverts in there? any signs of stress among them. does this happen after you feed the tank's fish. Sometimes they ball up around food.

Mine shrinks up once a week or so and then puffs right back up after an hour or so. But if he's deflating that much I'd defiantly check your water perimeters to see what's making him unhappy.
