BTA lighting question

I was talking to someone about this earlier. I was kicking around the idea of getting a BTA for my 30 gallon tank. This tank is well established, but I am not 100% sure on the lighting...

I assume that it could support one, but am not 100%. It's a 4X24 watt t5ho...2 actinics. It's a 30 inch across tank and from the light to the bottom of the tank is oh I don't know...about 2 feet

If I can get one, I already have several corals (all perfectly healthy), so it will be hard to work around them. I know where I'm going to put it, but if it decided to move, I have no social life so when I add it, I can keep a VERY close eye on it until it situates so that it doesn't sting my corals.

Any other questions? I hope I covered it enough for a straight answer.

So should it be done?

I almost forgot, are there any other anemones that can be kept? Maybe of higher light. I'm not asking for myself, I'm just curious.

96 watts might not be enough. I currently running 130 watts pc and 150 watt hqi in my 29 gallon and so far so good. I have heard it being done before but it might want to wander up towards the light. Any which way you go good luck.

These are under 2X96W of PC lights and are doing fine. Looks like 14 to 20 inches from the lights.

I keep my BTA under 4x39 watts. Doing just fine.

I find that they prefer more daylight, so I run no actinics. I run an ATI Blue +. ATI Actinic White, ATI Aquablue Special, and a GE 6500k Daylight. I recently swapped a second blue + out for the Actinic White, and they are much more open now.

I think a bta would be fine under your lights if you feed it once a week. It will probably move to the top of the rock as most of mine have. I would think your T5 lights are more powerful than my old pc lights. I think alot of it will depend how healthy your anemone is when you get it. It would be best to find one from a local reefer. That way you get one already used to aquarium lighting and water conditions. Plus, you'll probably save a lot of money:) If you buy one at a store they are usually pretty stressed out from all the shipping and tank transfers. They are usally bleached too.

Thank you for your responses! There is an lfs around here that is reputable and they have had a bubble tip for several months and it has looked healthy and happy. If it's still there, I might pick it up...otherwise I'll just find a local. Thanks again.

Last tip: If you find a BTA from a local that split in his home tank, it's chances of survival are almost a given. They are adapted to aquarium life and survival under aquarium lighting.

Thank you, that's helpful. I'll scope out stores this weekend looking for a nice healthy one. If I can't find a good one, I'll hit up locals. Where I am, there are not many locals.

I'm going to ask for a LOT of water with it for acclimation. I'll also probably buy some silversides if the store has them. I have mysis. Like zara said, I will feed weekly.

Btw, I was searching the web hard earlier and I found someone with my lighting that is keeping BTAs just fine. I'll take any color bta so long as that color isn't bleach haha.
