Is it normal for BTA tentacles to retreat back into where they normally stick out from (disc)?

My GBTA is currently eating fine but for the past few weeks some of tentacles are getting short or completely disappearing. It is currently located in a half shaded area where my female Perc is constantly hosting and sleeping into the nem.

do you find the tenicles elsewhere in the tank? are they coming off or just getting smaller?

My gbta is about 16 months old (in my tank) about 6-8 months ago mine started twisting its tenicles and they would float around the tank and eventually sting a coral it would land on. it got pretty ill ( i thought) it ate so slow it took almost an hr sometimes and lost a ton of tenicles. I was just patient and fended off the shrimps while it ate and now days it looks beautiful agian. (it never bleached..)

I have not seen any come off. A few of them are getting smaller and some seem to be reversely sucked in. I do also see a few that are pinched.
I've had it for about 4 months, It had a rough time acclimating in the begining .It bleached a little bit but since then it has been regaining most of its color back.
