I bought a BTA a few weeks ago from the LFS and the tips were thick. After putting the anemone in my tank the tips were still thick a few days later and then they started to get long and stringy. My water is fine, and I believe I sufficient lighting (24gallon nanocube/ 150watt MH). Is it possible for the tips to come back thick agian?

what are your water parametrs, specifically?

what is the temp in your tank?

how LONG has your tank been set up? VERY IMPORTANT.

and have you fed it?

it's a weird animal, i know. and i have only been "messing" with BTA's for about 3 months. but i have learned a lot. my BTA's tentacles get long and stringy when expelling waste. mine is about 10-11" in diameter when it's fully expanded, but when expelling waste, it shrivels up to the size of a golfball. every once in a while it get it's tips back, but not too often. most of the time it's tentacles are nice and plump as you described.

a good site to check out is this: http://www.karensroseanemones.com/

Karen is very nice and will answer your questions. But she has different pictures of BTA's in different states. Help me out.
