BTA under 70 Watt MH in 30 gallon cube?

I have a 30 gallon cube with a 96 watt pc light on it.

A while ago my BTA's in my (other) reef tank split so many times, I took one of the BTA's and put them in the 30 gallon cube.

It is surviving but obviously not happy.

I have the options of buying a used Current USA 70 watt HQI metal halide fixture for cheap. I don't know if the 70 watt HQI will give much more light than the 96 watt PC, or if the BTA will do better under this light or not. Any advice would be appreciated.

70 watt of MH is way better than 96 watt of powercompact. Its brighter and is better for an anemone. But a BTA would be fine under 96 powercompact in a 30 with weekly feeding. It will find the best spot to stay on. I've had a BTA under 30 watt of NO flourescent in a 10 gallon when i just started SW. I had it for 2 months b4 i gave it to a friend since it was his bday and he had halides under his tank.
