i have a friend who bought a new huge gbta ( about 5 in diameter) . anyway, it semms healthy ( eating some mysis shrimp) and its mouth is for the most part closed, however he wont attach to any rock, and keeps falling on his side, and doesnt seem to be able to get up. what should we do for this gbta. and also should it fell like a big blob of jelly when in the tank?? i have a smalll rbta in my tank ( 1 in in diameter) and it feels like a polyp, however his feels like a giant blob of jelly. so what is wrong with him??? please help

thanx for your time

Go, can you post a picture for us?
Have you tried feeding him?
Have you tried setting his foot into the rock work to see if he will attach there?
What lighting do you have on your tank?

lets see, he has the new coralife mh/pc combo. ( 150 watt ) metal halide, and two actinic 65 watt pc. anyway, i went over there a few days ago and we tried like six times to set it on the rock, however he simply is so big, he statrts moving falls on his side then slides off the rock. ( keep in mind he isnt attached while this is happening) so i cant quite figure out how to help him. any tips on gettin them to attach. like i said i have a rbta and it attached within 20 min in my tank, but his jsut doesnt seem right. i might be able to get a pic by tonight ( if my paretns let me go over there today) but till then he looks: tentacles- bright green, neon. foot- as far as we can see good, no cuts or scrapes, mouth, closed tight, no hole. also like i said last night it did eat some mysis shrimp, however it seems like it doesnt know how to attach and jsut lays on the sand. also is it right for them to feel like jelly do you know??? all the anemones i have ( lta , and rbta) feel like there is somthing i am grabbing when i put them into the tank, howver his is like jelly, its SUPER hard tp grab cause it slides through your fingers, fells like nothing . thanx for your time

I am wondering if just feeding mysis is enough, give it a silverside and see how it feels then, they need meaty foods to survive.
Give that a try and see if he will take it.
Will watch for pics.

I had one that took time to find a place he liked. After talking to some people and reading I think he took so long because I kept trying to put him in a higher flow area of the tank.I have been told they prefer slower wter you might want to make sure he is in a calmer part of tank. Good luck Scott
