BTAs under Viparspectra 165w LEDs

Anyone using this black box light for their anemones? I just bought this light for my 75g clown/nems tank which is 48x18x18. The light is bright and is more than enough at 100% intensity.

My question is what are your light settings? Both time and intensity? I think one of my split nems just bleached out because of too much light. The other 1 hid under the shade too.

I was doing 70% blues and 1% white since I'm really not a fan of white lights so my tank has the blueish effect on it. Blues at 8am to 12 mn and white at 10am to 8pm.

10 hours blue at 80%
9 hours white at 40%
If you just changed your lights, turn them way down and up,them 10% per month.
It took me about 6 months to get them at the current numbers.

I have 3 Mars aqua boxes over 150 gallon 3 of another brand I can't remember over a 180 gallon. All the rbt nems seem to be thriving. Been running them for a year or so. I run the blue at 100 % for 8 hours and white around 50 %for 6 hours. I would think they were doing perfect if I did not have some in a 28 gallon under an AI prime HD. Under the AI they look like true bubble tips. It may be the lighting or it may be the flow. I have a Clam in the 28 gallon so I ramp the light up to 90 % at 7000 k for total of about 10 hours. You can see the difference between the nems in the photos.

Are you thinking that having the lights at 7000k rather than the typical 14-20k is making them bubble up? I have NEVER had a BTA that had bubble tips.

That could be part of it I suppose. I found a photo from before the clam when they were at 18k and the nems didn't look quite so good but they still had some bubbles. I have over 30 of the nems in 3 tanks and the 3 in the small tank have always looked better and they are clones from the others. If the clam wasn't showing so much new growth I would experiment with the lighting.

Thanks, I love maroons. I also have a pair of Clarkii. Have nems and clowns in every tank. The Clarkii are the luckiest. They have a 6 ft tank with 26 bubble tips and a long tentacle. They spend all day trying to decide which one to occupy and sleep in a different one every night.

It is almost cruel to keep some species of clowns without anemones. I'm sure my A. tricinctus pair would not be doing so well without their haddoni. Eventually all of my clownfish pairs will have anemones.

I'm in the process of setting up a nem tank. It's cycling right now and when done I plan on purchasing this light and moving over a rock full of RBTA's from the DT. Is this light too much light for a 20g breeder?

No, I think this light should fit well on the 20, I had mine on a 20 years ago with a BTA.

But turn the intensity way down at first, say 30%, and ramp up very slowly over a few months
