bubble algae question

I have a type of bubble algae (not the spherical kind, but ones that look like elongated balloons, I'll try to post a picture later) that I'm trying to control.

Anyway, I have a large clump here and there, and I was wondering if I was to simply place a piece of coral (like a plate coral or something) on top of the clump of algae, that the algae will simply die off due to lack of light? Are there any potential risks to the coral?

I just had a really bad breakout of bubble algea and tried the no light with no avail. Apparently bubble algea is quite resilient to low light condition. My suggestion for getting rid of them is try to carefully remove them manually without bursting them or getting something that will eat them. I've heard of green emerals crabs eating it but the 3 I have dont touch the stuff. I've also heard of Red Sea Sailfins eating them which I plan on getting in a couple f weeks,
