Bubble algae?

Deep Reef

I have this algae that is growing in my tank and it is covering my rocks. I think it is a bubble algae but it is black/brown not green. Any suggestions?

Thanks

If the bubbles are firm then it's bubble algae aka valonia. If it's bubbles trapped within the algae it might be Dino. Personally it looks like the latter.....

Thanks rovster, went on reef cleaners and it looks like an exact match for their picks of cyno. I'm still fighting my wafer quality issues and I guess this is the result

Tank update

Tank update

Well for those interested here is an update:

I increased flow as recommended and I got my water parameters under control and have been running in this neighborhood all week: Ph 8.2, phosphate 0.04, Nitrite 0, ammonia 0, Nitrate 5, mag 1320, Alk 7.3, calc 430.

I used Ultra red slime remover and the cyno has almost completely disappeared.

Still running GFO and Started reducing my vinegar dosing.

Unfortunately, the corals are still not doing well. My plate frags which were growing like weeds have started turning gray at the edges an haven't been extending like before. Not sure about this new turn.....

Man is this frustrating....I'm trying not to move or do anything too quickly but not sure if I should be just monitoring at this point.

any advice is welcome.

Did you check If that's a dead spot in your tank? Also, I don't want to assume anything but is this happening on the tank that is on your signature?

May I ask what is your stocking in your 120g? Your skimmer might be too small for your tank, it all depends on your stocking and feeding habits. It can also be not enough water circulated in that area and might have to move your power heads due to your rock scape.

The plates are stressed. Move them to a place where they get a little bit more shade to help them recover.
