does anyone have any good remedies for bubble algea-my boyfriend says to get an emerald crab but i hear that they eat zoos and i have a nano-is that safe? any other options?

Emerald crabs are hit or miss. Some will attack zoos, others will leave it alone. No way to know until you get one and once they are in your rockwork, you will have a heck of a time getting them out!

Your best bet is to control the source rather than remove the problem. Frequent water changes, nutrient control and eliminating phosphates and silicates are the key. Do that and the algae will go away on it's own.

Hope this helps

I have had good success with manual removal.
Agreed. You want to carefully twist them out without popping them. Some will come out in masses. That and improving water quality is what worked for me.

They release their spores and you have more...;)

I have also been using boiling water to "cook" them when I get one that gives me trouble or tears (I usually try to get the rock out of the water". I have also found they react to joes juice/kalk. The green shrinks up and leaves the ball clear with a green core. Dont know what that means.
