My tank has become over run with bubble algee!! Can anyone help me with a cure??? I have them in all sizes from tiny to golf ball size....Thanks...

If they are truly golf ball size and are everywhere, your screwed. The choices you have are

1. Pop as many of the things as you can find and pull them out. Since the tank is infested it wont matter about spores, then do huge water changes and and just try to stay on top of them

2. pull all rock out and let it dry and kill all the buble algae, then powerwash it and put it back in

Thats about it. Emeralds will do small bubbles but wont stay on top of them. I wish you luck

my bubble algae went away shortly after I added ozone... never seen once since... no the #$%#!@##* hair algae is a different story.

The best way is to carefully remove the bubbles intact. This is a slow process over months. If you break them... they will continue... emeralds will eat the algae that turns into a bubble... not the bubbles themselves. water changes are a good idea if you break them... but be prepared for even tighter clusters of small bubbles if you break them. removal may be eaier outside the aquarium, however, I like the LIVE in live rock. Good news is... as Coraline grows in your tank, it will cover, and start to over take the BA... makes the bubles eaier to gently wriggle out of their holes.

I was going to try the method of using a piece of small hard plastic tubing with a water sipon. I read you can pop the bubbles and sipon out the spores at the same time. Has anyone used this method???
