Hey reeefers. i am new at this my tanks been up only for 3 months. I got a bubble coral about 2-3 weeks ago and i notice it half closed. Basically once i first got it, it fully openned up and then it was good for 2 weeks. and i just notice for the past 2-3 days half of it hasn't been openning up. I've been direct feeding them on a daily basis with cyclopee. It also has been spitting out some brown slimy stuff. is this normal? Any advice would help. thanks in advance.

Newguy,

Need some info on H2O parameters, lighting, etc.

That said, I have noticed that when I feed my bubble, it will not open fully for several days. (That goes for my frogspawn too.) I don't quite know why, but I have been told that it does not need as much light for a food source when it is getting fed. Therefore, polyp extenstion is not as great. I am not sure if there is any truth behind this, but it sounds reasonable.

I do know if my bubble gets too much direct current it will quickly retract.

Here is mine...

Well my bubble coral does not get too much current. as of the water par.

Calcium 440ppm
Alk 8
ph 144
phospahte 0ppm
nitrate 10ppm

Do you have a pic of the brown slimy stuff? It sound like poop, but a pic might help confirm this.

8 sounds fine. Is 144 using a different scale? I don't think that feeding the bubble everyday is a good idea, but someone may know better. I have a bubble that looks great and I feed it about once a month. I think lighting is more important, I keep it under 250w mh.

I am running PC right now thats why i think its not doing so good. but i noticed it and ordered my 48" 4x65 T5HO yesterday. So hopefully that will do the job.
