bubble coral showing skeleton

This morning when I fed the tank everything was fine. During the day a power head quit running and therefore the flow in my tank was changed. My bubble coral ended up getting way too much flow for who knows how long. He now has part of his skeleton showing thru his mouth. I switched the flow off of him and his bubbles are starting to inflat but I can still see his skeleton. Can he bounce back from this?

Bubble corals are extremely resilient. There was a member a while ago that thought his bubble coral had died. There was no visible tissue left so he put the skeleton in his fuge for pods to live in. A few months later tiny parts of the tissue that had remained started to grow and the coral lived on. He thought it was goner but even in his fuge it made a comeback. I'm sure your bubble coral will be fine it was most likely just irritated.

Even without being stressed these water filled types of coral often purge themselves of most of their water and shrink up quite small. They then take on more water again filling out nicely. Give it a few days and I bet your bubble will look lovely once again. I'm not sure what you could do for it that would help.

Check alkalinity and calcium levels, too. Good params for this species are in my sig line.

Thanks. I fed him last night and by this morning he was all filled out nicely with no skeleton showing. I guess withe being new to this, I kinda stress over a lot, being new territory for me.
