Bubble Magus QQ1 Nano Skimmer

never seen anyone use it and given the amount of skimmer churn with many on here I woudl think that that says quite a bit about this particular skimmer never showing up on a list...

Recovering a mildly dead post. I got one of these for xmas from my in laws. Packaging is top notch, build quality is fairly impressive as well. I plan on making a full review and video. Will be on my 7 gallon office tank.

Just to update on this thread should someone search for it, I am a big fan of this little skimmer so far, it is pretty quiet overall, and collecting decent skimmate for being a week old roughly tea in color. The needlewheel powerhead runs fairly silent and creates pretty decent foam/bubbles. Tank this is on has mainly coral, one small yellow clown goby and a yellowtail damsel, feed flake food once per day 5 days a week.

Does it return many bubbles to the tank? How much room is required between the back of the tank and the wall? I have a Tunze 9001 on my 17 gallon tank. The 9001 is just okay, I'm thinking about trying something else.

I ended up buying one of these back in March when I posted my question about the bubbles. I've been pretty happy with it. I don't have a problem with bubbles returned to the tank and I think it works better than the Tunze 9001 that I was using. The Tunze did return bubbles and I was never happy with it but I really wanted to be, I know Tunze generally makes great stuff. The QQ1 has a little overflow tube from the collection cup that drips back into the return flow in case you fail to empty it in time. The set screw for the adjustable cup height easily cracks the plastic that it threads through but it still works. Mine did not come with any instructions. The amount of space that it takes up inside the tank is very small, however it's much more prominent than say an Aquaclear filter on the back of the tank. It needs 3"-3.5" clear space behind the tank. Overall it's much easier to get good results from than the Tunze 9001 was.

Thanks for the info!
This looks to be the best bang for ur buck for a HOB Skimmer.

I purchased TAAM Rio Nano Skimmer just to try out, despite of the mixed reviews, and honestly, it just sucks. Microbubbles returned to the tank like crazy. I added filter floss, and tried everything to get the microbubbles to stop, and nothing I tried worked.

It I could stop the microbubbles somehow, it wouldn't be a bad skimmer, but for the life of me, I can't figure out a way!

Sorry I never saw this again. Eventually mine broke in and was giving me 0 bubbles in the tank. I have since broke down my tank. QQ1 is sitting in my closet.

How long did it take for it to break in?

It took it a couple weeks, I had to use the set screw to hold the cup up an inch or so, that way it kept it from overflowing while it broke in. towards the end it started putting out a lot of micro bubbles but once I cleaned the pump was back in business. It's a solid little skimmer, I'll probably put it up for sale soon as I wont be setting my nano back up.

Any updates on what the skimmate looks like since that last pic, before it was broken in? I wonder how much different, since that's about the same if not a bit lighter than I get with my AquaticLife 115.

I get a little bit darker than the last pic, but you can also adjust it by raising the collection cup.
