has anyone been able to find these available anywhere? I look online and at my LFS and can't find them.. and am not even sure they are easy to take care of like other mushes >< But I want one.. they are too cool looking!

Are you talking about Discosom sanctotthomae? It is commonly called the St. Thomas or bubble mushroom? I see them on ebay periodically. Try donovansreef.

Ah yes that would be the one, I couldn't remember it's other names! Thank you very much for the reference. Is that an ebay name or a site ? i couldn't find it on ebay or frags.org and with a .com after it the domain is for sale :(

oh well guess i'll just have to keep my eyes peeled now :)

Christy how often do you buy from online? I have been looking for somethings and wanted to know from someone who has bought online.

Ironic this post gets bumped, I got ahold of donavons reef and ordered some of these today!!! So far his communication is excellent.

i've also had good experiences with sealifeflorida.com who is also old.diver on ebay and liveaquaria.

I try to go locally for most of my stuff- theres an awesome LFS by me, but sometimes when you're browsing online nothing in the world can prevent your finger from clicking "add to cart" hehehe

I hope that helps

oh also, i've dealt with a RC member here as well. I think hes possibly the president and\or old time big time member of his local reef club. I checked out his post count, posts etc before dealing with him to ascertain if it was a good person to deal with and it sure was. I've been very lucky - but I think shopping online for livestock is akint o shopping online anywhere else- buyer always beware.. do your homework, if it looks too good to be true, it very well could be.

Be very careful of online purchasing (especially on ebay). Photoshop seems to be coloring more corals these days than Mother Nature ever did. Research the background of who you are buying from!!!

Thanks for the info both of you. There are some things I can find around here that I really want so I'll give the online thing a shot. NOT going to do the e-bay thing though. Thanks again!

a good choice.

By the way my mushrooms came today despite the INSANE weather and destruction florida is going through right now. they get upset when they ship but i was notified to expect them to look like their guts are spilling but once introduced to the tank in about 15 mins they perked up and they are looking awesome so far :)
I am very happy!

Mine puke their guts from time to time too. Never understood why but they always go back to normal. Can't wait to see them Crisstie.

Mine are small but as promised here's a pic

I am wondering if they are as prolific as other mushrooms can be and if so how I should set them up so they can bud babies.

Lovely! I love those, and really want some one of these days :)

If you know who the seller is then why not? I'd probably buy from Ken(sea life FL) if he had something really cool up for an auction, and I just got second dibs on one(my little lord frag in the LPS forum) from pacific coral farms. If you know the business and can afford it, I say go for it :)

They also call them "Verigated Ricordea".

I see them often but they are usually drab.
Your green one is very nice the one to the right of it is typical coloring.
But you buy them more for texture than color IMO.

There inlyes the problem, knowing the seller. I don't know any of then that I have seen. For that matter I don't know hte sellers at eh LFS either I supose. Point taken!!

You know its funny about these gusy puking their guts out. My more blue one is doing this to move from the rock he is on to a different one. i can't tell if he wants more or less light but he is like BLEARGHGAHRHH.. *floats 1mm away* .. sighs in relief.. BLEARGHGH all over again.. weird little mush!

I never move mine to or from the light. I see that they can move on their own so I leave them to find their happy place.

I know they move on their own but i was meaning between two tanks :)

and i will havet o check out that link!
