Bubble Tip Anemone in a 20g question.

I was wondering if anyone had experience with anemones in there nano tanks?

I'm thinking of adding one to my 20g softy tank, and I'm worried there might be to much moment from the anemone.

What does everyone think? yay or nay?

Thanks!

Just keep in mind it will move around tell it finds a spot it likes. One of my RBTA moved from one side to the other with out hurting anything on its move :) If you get one try to get it from a reefer a tank raised one & not from a LFS most them will die from stress & are wild. One of my RBTA likes to sit right in the flow of a 1200 power head. If you check out my pics you can see the top one is right in the main flow. Hope this helps :)

well it will take a while for them to get huge, i have them isolated on their own rock structure, here is the latest pic of them, you cant see all of em. If you dont do the regular pile of rocks it is less likely that they will detach and try floating somewhere. Try doing different things.

My rbta moved around the first day, but after that it settled down next to the side of the tank under my vortech. I guess it didn't like all of the flow. Its not nessecary the place that I wanted it, but I guess with btas you never know what its going to do. Only time it moved slightly was after being harrased by my cleaner shrimp.

you might have to supplement it by feeding it more often. You'll know if its not doing good if it start losing its color. Mine does well with my 4 bulb, 96 watt T5 fixture.

What would you consider enough light? I have two 65w power compacts that work great for soft corals. Does that sound right?

That should be enough light for a 20g, im just using the AI nano 35w led and the colors are awesome, Once every week or 2 i cut up some silversides which they love, just make sure the pieces are small.

Thats plenty of light. When I first set up my BC29 I put a RBTA in there and it wasnt long(a year maybe) before 1 became 12! Under the BC stock lighting. They killed everything but my frogspawn but i was cool with a nem tank and my Tomato Clown was in heaven. I just recently removed and sold all but one of them and used the cash to do some mods on my cube. Free LEDs and a sump so-to-speak!

dang, how big was the original ? anything that you can think of that got it to split ? temp flow params ?

I can't think of a single thing that caused it to split. My lighting was the 105w cf quad lid when it split. I just updated my lid to the led one. I went to bed one night n he was right in the center of the tank. When I came down in the morning he was still there but another one was right next to him. I think he was only 3 to 4 inches when he split. Now the original one has to be 12 inches n the second one is at least 9 to 10 inches. I feed silver sliders once a week or so. My mp10 is on reef creast about 70%. Have two next reef reactors one with carbon and one with phosban. The in tank media basket with just filter floss.
