Bubble tip anemone

I recently purchased a green bubble tip anemone. Im having issues with placing him. When I first put him in he kept floating around and I was concerned that the return blowers from pumps would damage him.. So I tried putting him between two rocks.. He was fine there and started moving in his own. This morning I woke up and he was face in sand. He looks ok no obvious damage. But now he is under sometime rock in a cave barely open. I know they will move until they are comfortable I'm just curious if there is something else I should be doing

He is happy now...

Looks good so far - but - expect him to move from there. BTAs usually like to have their foot under a rock or in a crevice. Depending on how he likes the light, he may move higher for more light or stay at the same level on your rocks. Keep being patient and don't mess with him - and yes, it's hard not to! Lol

Lol thanks. One more question he occasionally lays almost flat and seems I dunno lazy I guess you would say.. What do you recommend for sg and water temp. Im at 1.028 and 78 degrees

Temp is good - mine stay between 76-79. Salinity is a bit high. I keep mine at 1.024 and all my BTAs do great. I wouldn't go above 1.026. As far as lowering salinity, be careful not to lower in one big change. Depending on the size of your tank, you could take a pitcher full of salt water out and replace it with a pitcher of fresh water. You can do this a pitcher each day until you get it where you want. What size is your tank? If it's closer to a 90+ gallon, you could probably do more each day.

Hey this his what he does later in the day.. Is this normal

If I was looking pretty in 1024 salinity and than dropped into 1028, I would look exactly same whole day :D
My LTA and catalaphyllia were always 1st to respond to any KH/salinity swings.

Looks like it's doing good for now - just make sure you check salinity each day before you switch out salt for fresh water. It can be hard on your tank inhabitants if it changes too fast. One pitcher a day will be fine and a nice slow change. Remember, nothing good happens fast in a reef tank!

Ok do now he does not look good... Hr was fine earlier today. He now has what appears to be slime on his underside. Also the center is wide open and looks mucosy. I have a pic but it's hard to see. He like shriveled up...

Doesn't look real happy there but he may have brushed against your urchin and pulled back. I don't see anything alarming from the pic. the base still looks fairly inflated, so don't worry too much about the tentacles pulled in and short. I would bet he looked better after that urchin moved off! Give an update in the morning!

It's good to post pictures and wait for answers sometimes we over react and do more harm than good
Sometimes it's better to leave things alone and not disturb them

dude you nailed it the urchin moved and now he looks fantastic.. Ha ha im super paranoid ...

Nice! Don't worry about being paranoid, I think it comes naturally with the money we put into our tanks! There are many people on here that have been through all kinds of weird things and are happy to help!

I had bought a Fire Urchin - it was beautiful - well my BTA wasn't happy it got too close and took it out!! That thing was dead within 2 hours! Usually they just pull in like yours did and everybody is happy!
