Bubble tip help

Nite they were withering under LEDs, although I don't blame lighting. Qt tank will be lit by 250w 20k mh

So if my bta has something then it's likely my other nems have it too? that's not awesome...

Theory is its a bacteria that is always present. It is normally managed by the nems immune system but when stressed it has trouble and sometimes cannot keep it in check.

I doubt it will infect your other bta's but it could. Please post how this is going with treatment. I do wish you the best with it.

They're gonna think I'm insane haha. Not a big reefing town. I got it to eat tonight though which is awesome. It was just a tiny piece of mysis, but that's progress.

Well I called every vet in the area, including the exotic vet, and none would prescribe me cipro. Asked my local club and nobody had any. Not quite sure what to do now.

Oh, I read you have to get it prescribed. I'll check it out thanks.
Some good news though, it still has a feeding response. It's weak, and won't actually eat. But I turned off all the pumps and laid a piece of mysis on its oral disk, where the mysis was curled up and moved it towards the mouth. Even began opening up to eat it but for some reason didn't actually eat it. I'm not giving up hope yet.

On a side note, does anyone have pictures of a nem with a bacterial infection? I want to be sure of what I'm dealing with here.

m0nkie THANK YOU!!! I just ordered enough cipro to last me forever. Should be here saturday.

I plan to treat in a 2.5g (because thats all I have available) will that be an issue?

I don't know what a bacterial infection looks like.. but last week I pulled out 1 of my haddoni into a QT to treat. He is about 1 month old in my tank and started doing nightly deflating. This is the beginning of all nem deaths for me.. nightly deflating..

250ml Cipro in 10gal of water. It immediately started looking better. No more deflating at night. I'm on day 3/7 now. treating is real easy if you have 2 sets of equipment. If i had known it was this easy, I would have treated my previous BTAs

I'm not sure about a 2.5 gal.. the important thing is keeping water clear and nem safe. In my 20gal, with 10gal of water, water started looking cloudy after 12 hours. the nem was not expelling anything either. Just make sure your QT water is crystal clear AND your nem doesn't touch the heater..

Sounds good, I should be fine then. No heater needed in my place, tanks stay at 78-80. How do I change 100% of the water, without taking the nem out of the water? That's the only part that confuses me.

One last question. The nem is (luckily) on a small rock that will be easily movable to the 2.5g for treatment. Will it be ok to keep it on the rock, there's a little algae on the rock but not enough to polute a 2.5g.

I would use something larger than a 2.5g. Try to have 10g of water volume. So maybe a 20 gallon half full or something. You could use a tote from Walmart if necessary in the short term. Less water volume means the water Chem goes to hell faster.

100% water changes will prevent any issues that little piece of live rock might present. Monitor amonia and make sure temp and salinity match on your water changes.

I just took the nem out of 1 tank into next. Same salinity and temp. No problem with it exposing to air

I can't really do 70g of salt water right now (10g x 7 days treatment). I have enough salt to make the 2.5g work. And I don't have a huge salt mixing station. I'd be making trips to the LFS daily, and with my job thats not possible. Im gonna have to make 2.5g work.

Should be fine though, while Im at work my wife can monitor and replace water if needed.

Salinity and temp shouldn't be an issue, I mix all my salt at once so its a consistent 1.025. And temp is always stable since I don use heaters in any of my tanks. I keep my house at 76, which keeps my tanks at around 78 some how.

Just make sure to keep an eye on the among a levels. They can climb quick and that's a huge enemy of your anemone (hahaha).
