bubbles and temp ?'s

Hi all! Two quick questions.

1.) I have a 28g reef (an upgrade from a 20g, set up since May) and I have noticed a strange thing with both tanks. I have these small bubbles that attach to the glass. I have a seahorse tank as well and have never had this problem. It's easy to get rid of, and it doesn't really bother me, but I guess I was wondering if anyone could tell me why this is (making sure it isn't a bad thing)

2.) I have recently had a bit of a scare when it comes to heaters (saw a tank that had exploded due to one) and I was wondering if 74-76 degrees was too low for a reef. Everything in my tank is thriving, but I just want to be sure.

Oh, one more question. I recently had an apitasia outbreak start. I added a peppermint, but have not as of yet seen any changes in the situation. Should I be concerned?

1 & 2) Can't help you with those.

3) Not all peppermint shrimp with eat Aiptasia. I have 3 and none of them do. I use Aiptasia Control. It is reef safe and works moderately well.

OK The micro bubbles are attaching themself to any algea it comes in contact with. This could be low flow, low cleanup crew , cycling. You usaully see in low flow areas.


The target temp is 77 But your in the safe zone but i would get a heater. This just another reason for a refugium. You can put the heater in the sump and less clutter and worry.


The aptesia , if you can remove the rock or frag its on then
remove and dip in high salinity dip or freash water dip then manually remove by chipping or scraping away. Also i here lime juice in a needle and inject the little bugger right down the pie hole. I would try the least aggressive before addding any chemicals. Chemicals should always be the last resort.

The bubbles might even be caused by the algae if it is cyano (or even diatoms).
