Hello all.
We've got the issue in the title.
No parameters are off (~ 8 DKH, 420 Cal, ~1300 Mag, 78-79F, No serious algae issues, don't test nitrogen or phosphates any more. When I did, phos generally ran ~.05-.07) PAR is in the 300 range under Radion Pros. We feed relatively heavy.
SPS all has very good color and decent to excellent growth. Occasional isolated issues with this coral or that coral getting ****ed for a while, but no RTN/STN. LPS is all rocking and rolling.
We've had the bubbles for about 6 months. No adverse effects other than a bit ugly.
Done our due diligence googling, no one seems to know ***. This is not cacification, but rather liquid filled bubbles under neath the skin. They don't seem to pop except for due to physical trauma, and when they do the skin regrows over where the bubble was.
The (extremelly limited and guesstimatory) info on the intertubes says excess photo synthesis or Mag problem.
Talked to the experts I know personally, including at least one top level aquaculturist, consensus seems to be "It happens, it is weird, if the coral is otherwise healthy I wouldn't stress it."
FWIW it seems to hit smoothies the hardest.
Again -- No other adverse impacts. Growth and color are still good to great.
Ideas?
