Bubbles!?!

Good Afternoon. I have a 29gal BioCube and it has been setup for about 9 months.

Saturday millions of bubbles were in the tank and for seemingly no cause. I have since pulled the return pump out checked the impellers and all seems well. The bubble are still pumping out and it is driving me crazy.

Anyone have any ideas on what could be causing the bubbles and or how to fix it. Thanks

steve

Can you describe your setup with some more detail? Can't tell for sure, from your post, if there's a sump...skimmer, etc.

Are they small silver looking bubbles? Are they on your sand bed and LR? Do see them more in the evening then day time? Could just be oxygen produced by algae and are harmless.

sorry for the delay in answering the questions.

1. water level is fine..right at the maximum level.
2.setup is just the BioCube..no skimmer no sump no fuge
3. the bubbles are floating and being expelled from the return, they arent on the rocks or sandbed..just free floating.

I have checked the return pump all seems airtight. I even looked at the impeller to make sure nothing is clogged or blocking flow and there is nothing. Everything has been fine for months and then all of the sudden bubbles everywhere. The fish dont seem to mind but I hate looking at it. Is it possible that my return pump needs to be replaced. thanks again

Check your gaskets on your return pump. Mine had a tiny leak and was causing microbubbles. The only way I discovered it was a small amount of saltcreep on the pump.
