Bubbly BTA?

What can I do to help my BTA become bubbly again? It used to be very cool looking, and now it's just kinda droopy. My salinity is too high, I am working on bringing it down. Could the be the problem? Do I nned to feed it? I mean, it's under 500 watts of MH and kinda high up in the tank. Thanks.

well... feeding it would be a good start. nems should be fed often. are their any other nems in the tank? the salinity is not the salt content by the way, the specific gravity (SG) is the salt content of the water. srry, that last part sounded a little smart ***

My understanding is that it's not necessarily a good thing when/if a BTA has bubbly tips. Some do, many don't. Some switch back and forth. The prevailing theory is that the bubbles indicate that the nem is in some kind of defensive mode.

Anyway, I don't worry when mine has no bubbles, but when it does, I look around and check my parameters to make sure everything is okay.

There is a LTA on the sand right inder the BTA, like 6 inches under.
No worries moonstream.

Canarygirl, I heard that too but I thought it was just something that people thought. I have seen a lot of pictures of BTAs and most of them are bubbluy.
I will feed it and see what happens. Thanks for the help.

This issue has preplexed me since I started keeping BTA's. Used to think that they would not bubble if kept under very intense lighting like MH's but I proved that theory wrong recently when one of mine started bubbling directly under my 400w MH.
I don't think that it is a general sign of a problem with the animals health unless the tenatacles look deflated.

The only time my RBTA was completely bubbled up (like in photos) was when he was first introduced to my tank, and for about the first hour or so. Then it mostly stopped, except for occasional partial bubble-ups. Nothing like that first day, though.

I just really like the look of the tips really bubbled.
