Buck Tooth Puffer

I was at MarineDepot.com and Kelly referred me to this site.

I made a similar post at MarineDepot...

My puffer has buck teeth and I didn't know what I was to do about it. It was suggested that I pull the puffer out, use CLOVE OIL and then clip its teeth. I'm beyond nervous... but want to save the puffer.

I can't find clove oil but I did find "CLOVE BUD" oil. I'm just wondering if clove oil and clove bud oil are one and the same?

Can anybody here confirm that for me?

Also... I'm wonder if its too late to put the proper food in the tank so that the puffer can break its own teeth...

My end result is... to do whats best for the fish with as little stress as possible.

I appreciate any advice that can be offered in this matter.

Thank you!

I don't if those two things are the same or not, but have you tried posting in the aggressive fish forum. Someone there may have had this problem before and be more familiar with it.

What kind of puffer and how bad is it. If the fish is still eating it would be better to try and fix it with the right food rather than the dentistry. What has it been eating?

Thank you both for responding.

I DID indeed perform the dentistry procedure. All went well.

I don't know the exact name of my puffer. Its a sharp nose puffer?

I suppose my next question would be. What is the best source of food for this fish? While I've been reading that I can purchase food from my own fish market... I'm just afraid of spoiling the tank.

Also.. if I start feeding it shrimp, crabs, clams and mussels... I'm afraid it won't eat the frozen packaged food I get from the pet shop. For example... brine shrimp... vitamin A.

Thanks again for responding.
