I recently aquired a 240 gallon "L" shaped custom tank from a friend of mine. Right now I have a 125 gallon and have no experience in the large tank field. I am open to suggestions from all of you "big reef owners" out there and all advice is appreciated and welcom. Let me start by giving you some background on the tank.
A LFS had decided to sell the tank that they had up as a display and that was how my friend bought it. I bought the sump and lights which of the two I am keeping the sump and replacing the lights with dimmable 250/400W ballasts and new reflectors ect. I have no clue as to what pumps to put on it as it is plumbed for 3 pumps. I also have the chiller for it but don't plan to use it as my current tank never gets hot because my house is 72 degrees year round but I realize that may not have anything to do with it. Of the three pumps I am assuming that 1 pump was for the skimmer, 1 for the chiller and 1 for the return. I could be wrong but don't know. I bought a 3000gph pump that I plan to T off for the 2 returns and use another pump for the skimmer. Later on I want to add a kalkwasser or calcium reactor and a reef monitor. Maybe some of you can point me in the right direction and I hope so. Thank you guys
