buddha (banggal) cardinal

hi. does anyone know if a buddha (banggal) cardinal should be kept singly in a 90 gallon or in a group? my lfs said i should get at least 3 but my book, pocket expert guide to marine fishes, says not to. help??

Singly is fine, and a pair is fine. More than that can end badly, because two will pair up and the third will get killed.
A few people have had long-term luck with it, but they're the exception, not the rule.

Your LFS is trying to sell you extra fish.
