So when power goes off and the sump water goes up, and power comes back again the skimmer does not overflow??

This is a fantastic advantage to a DC skimmer, and a main reason for me to buy one... Sadly with the Bubble Magus D8 skimmer that l bought the skimmer doesn't come back on after a power cut...., when the power comes back to the house you have to physically turn it on at the controller, bummer if nobody is home.
Check before you buy, this 100% is not the case with the Skimz DC skimmers. Until Bubble Magus get their **** together l'd go skimz, l have one of their DC Oval skimmers, very nice bit of kit.

Another benefit I found with a DC skimmer is that it is useful when you need your skimmer for pH balancing but do not want to skim. It's as simple as pressing a button up or down versus twisting the flow value (unless you have sophisticated muscle memory, is a pain to dial back correctly) or raising your skimmer.

I just upgraded to the Bubble Magus Curve A8 DC, very quite. The reason for upgrading was my octopus pump shorted out. Next upgrade will be the return pump, switching from mag 12 to something DC.
