Well, I was really getting sick of my multiple tank syndrome. The cleaning, water changes etc for 6 systems. I know, 6 systems!! Are you crazy I often got asked. I decided....... I am crazy for having this many systems.
My first saltwater tank really wasn't set up right. I had a freshwater for years, decided I wanted saltwater and jumped in not really knowing what the heck I was doing.
Went to Ocean Floor for Christmas 2 years ago and bought a 120g, stand and a fluval fx5!!! Tempered bottom on the glass tank too by the way. Awesome!
After having it run for 5 months, I found reefcentral. I was able to have a nice tank for a short time until having a canister filter with no sump or refugium caught up with me.
During my multiple tank syndrome set a few tanks up with a sump and refugium and realized the benefits of doing it this way.
I decided I was going to start selling off my systems and get what I wanted and set it up the right way.
I started pricing a standard 180g and was going to buy one new and set it up peninsula style ( yes Tiff, I have tank envy ) :)
The weekend before I was going to go order the tank at AZSB, I decided late Friday night to cruise craigslist.
This is what the ad said:
60 x 24 x 24 acrylic tank $315 will take trades for tanks and equipment. I called the guy and he traded the tank for my 120g, stand, canopy and THE FLUVAL!!!! and a 20g that I had bought from Jesse and Melissa some time ago, for this tank

So after looking at it Saturday morning decided the reef gods are shining upon me, I came home and broke down the 120g. Sunday morning, I made the trade.
The next weekend our friend Joel came up and worked off his $50 that he owed for the fantasy football league.
Here's Mr. Buffalo having a hard time demolishing our beautiful tile

The tank should be ready for water this weekend. Mr. Buffalo has to install the overflow still. I'm soooooooo stoked, I had to share :)

We are going to put drywall from the floor up. There is about a 6" space around the top of the stand for some tiles to go around the outside edge of the bottom of the tank. We are going to build drywall from the ceiling down as well. The shelves to the right of the stand will have cabinet doors to match my kitchen cabinets.

Wow! Moving right along. That is going to look great when it is complete. I really like how the new tank looks and the wood stand (tiny) is beautiful.

Are you really letting Mr Buffalo swing that hammer next to a fish tank in that second pic? :p

I KNOW!! It only took one piece of flying tile and some curse words to get that moved quickly after the hammering started!!!:lmao:

you are moving FAST, nice work! congrats on the tank!
Thanks Elliott!

The easiest way I found to rip up tile is a brick chisel if you have a edge to start with. Just put it on the floor and hit it under the tile and pop it comes up.

I think that's what they ended up doing. The tile work is all done. Thank goodness!! Mr. Buffalo epoxyed the floor underneath the stand. He used the stuff you would use to do a garage floor. Looks pretty cool.

Thanks!!
Mr. Buffalo drilled the last holes in!!! We brought the tank in to set it on the stand and mark the stand for the holes that need to be drilled. Just having it up there and seeing what it's gonna look like is killing me!!!! We might have water in it by mid week!!!!:D

Mr. Buffalo finally got the overflow built and installed!!! YEAH!!!

Now we are water testing it to make sure the overflow doesn't leak.

I'm so close!!! Maybe by the end of the weekend it will be up and running

Looks good. The only thing I might recommend is to open up the top over the overflow completely. For easier access. Unless you have enough room to get in and out of it.

I think I have a 5" x 11" hole to get into. I can get both arms inside of the overflow with no problem. I'm making sure that when we put the drywall from the ceiling down that I have a huge space to get into. I am going to put doors on each side of the drywall so that I can get into the tank from the top on both sides.
