Building a crevice for a RBTA - pics please!

I am trying to construct a few choice locations to place my RBTA - something with a deep crevice or similar for it to put its foot.....

I would love to seem some pics of your BTA, more specifically anything that shows the "hole" where its foot is.......

Many thanks,

Matt

Well I have read alot about "provide your BTA with a hole or crevice to postition its foot"..... but a picture paints a thousand words...... I have lots of holes and crevices in the rock work, but I dunno how suitable they might be????

Matt, BTAs attach themselves to rocks, typically an overhang or the underside of a rock, and then bend their tubes upward, like the "J" in a cane. BTAs are very mobile, and he will continue to move around until he finds that light and flow combination that will suit him.

ssavader - I see........ I guess trying to predict where he will go is just a waste of time so really...... I've given this quite a bit of time and effort, researching etc..... guess there is no point in over doing it and wasting time on something which is, essentially, utterly unpredicitble.

Thanks
Matt

Matt, I got a new 8" BTA for my 120g 4 weeks ago and placed him in front of the tank as a showpiece, with paired A. bicinctus clowns in QT waiting for him to settle down. During week 1, he moved into a cave and could not be fed and had little light. Week 2 he squished himself through a tiny opening the size of a half dollar and appeared on the side of the tank. By week 3 he had moved to the lower back corner rock work of the tank, and still appears healthy and is eating. So where he will ultimately decide he is "happy" is totally up to him. Some say if you direct good flow and light at them, they will settle down, but only the nems understands completely the nuances of "where" they want to be!

Good Luck.

I designed my rock work pretty much around the RBTA . It's difficult to see from the picture but there is a nice crevice under it, its foot is actually attached up inside the crevice so it can completely retract from view if it wishes.

Then the flow in my tank along with the rock work keeps him happily swaying but not blasted. There is about 1600GPH of flow in my tank.

And lastly he gets tons of light with the 250w MH.

thanks ssavader.... hopefully yours will settle soon, and mine will settle quicker than that :)

mitch529 - thats for the pic.... I think it shows the 'nen' in the "J" cane position as described by ssvader earlier?

Thanks guys,
Matt

Yeah mine seems to love to be in the 'J' position the foot is actually attached to the top of the crevice. Next time it is closed up I will grab a pic of it for you.
