Hey all,

I'm building a sump for my 120g tank. Its going to be built with a 30 g long tank. The tank is already put together but Im putting in the glass panes to separate the sections. Any recommendations on a good sealer? Someone recommended GE Type 1 but then I read some bad things about it. Any suggestions?

Thanks :bum:

I used DAP Aquarium Sealant 100% Silicone Clear. I got is at Loews. If you get this stuff make sure you let it dry for about a week or longer. A way to tell its really dry is by making sure you dont see any cloudy joints. If you dont wait for it to cure it will leach toxic stuff. After it dries clear (on all joints) its perfectly safe. Oh and make sure you dont pile the silicone in the joints it will take a really long to dry then. Hope this helps

I've always used GE Type I (without anti-mildew stuff). Hadn't heard of problems with it.

Exact same here. Needs AT LEAST 24 hours to dry. Does not harm anything at all after that. Tis also inexpensive and easy to find.

I have always used aquarium sealer from home depot and lowes. Worked on the sump and to repair a tank bottom. Easy to find and use.

USE IN VENTILATED AREA AND STAY AWAY FROM PHUMES !!!

Cure for 24 hours and ready to go. Works on both acrillic and glass

ge I window and door. I have used all colors and have had no problems. dont get the mold and mildew protection.
