Long timeforum lurker, not very often poster. I have kept a 28g nano for sometime now and we are now planning to build a new house. My 2 year old is infatuated with my reef so i really want to get something largefor the new home. I want my reefof course, centering on mainly SPS, but overall a mixed reef. As far as stocking i love the Naso Tang. He would be the only large fish in the tank, possibly a copperband butterfly. Other than that it would be clown pair, anthias, jawfish, chromis, maybe a wrasse. Nothing of any size. So the question is, what size tank is optimal for the Naso to be the centerpiece. I want to make him to most comfortable and make it so he will thrive. I realize optimal is probably a 500g tank of about 9ft long, but i was thinking something of a 200g maybe 72" or 84" long? So, overall dimension suggestions would be great. Only fish coming frommy nano would be a purple firefish, perc pair, and a bangaii cardinal. Those are the only fish which MUST be included, even willing to eliminate all others to make better for the Naso. Thanks in advance.

from what i understand your looking at an 8-10ft long tank. prob would want 36" wide for the fish to turn and better aquascaping and then around 24" tall or something. glass cages makes a 240 long 96x24x24, a 300 wide 96x30x25 and a 375 wide 96x36x25. id be looking at one of those.

Do a ton of research and then do some more. Make sure you plan everything first and then make it happen. 30 inches deep is a good start for reef, leaves plenty of room for rock work and sand bed.

set a price on what you can spend x2 than go from there its all comes down to what you can aford thats the bottom line
