is live rock easy to drill and put rods through or does it tend to split?

what diamater acrylic rods are best to use?

many thanks
:)

I would use 1/4 or 3/8 rod that way it is really strong. Just becareful when drilling because it can split, but if should not if you are careful.

Get a masonary bit and a bunch of plastic coat hangers. I then used a side cutters to cut/dent them so the epoxy can really hold onto them. I put a ball of epoxy into the hole, stick in the section of coat hanger, and you'll have one rock from two. It is quite permanent though.

FWIW, what do people see as the main benefit from using acrylic rod? won't clear rod, or PVC, both be covered in coraline/brown gunk in a few months anyways? why pay more for acrylic rod?

awesome, thanks for the advice
