I got a Bulb Anemone from Liveaquria on THursday. I put it towards the bottom of the tank that had a good amount of light and good flow on it. WOke up FRiday and saw it moved to the very back of the tank. THis morning, Saturday, I woke and saw it was on the top of a rock. The a few hours later it is moving down the rock towards the bottomg of the tank. Is it going to keep on moving like this? ALso, how can I feed it silver side minnows when its on its side of a rock? I cant put it on there without it falling can I?

I never had an Anemone before so your comments are very valuable.

THanks!
Brian

As long as the silver side can catch a tip, don't worry about it. If it's healthy, it will grab the silverside and move it to it's mouth.

WHen it moves its position should it have a weird look like its almost melting. It still has a bright green to it and is slowly moving as each time I look it gets a little further down. Is this how it moves?

As for feeding the anemone, it should grab the minnows if thawed correctly and bring it to there mouth. and it will take a wekk or two to even find a happy lighting/current/temp conditions, its just time and whatching it so it doesnt take anything out.

It will move around until it finds conditions it likes. It may even hide in the rocks for awhile.

I wouldn't try to feed it until it settles down a little. When you do feed, you should cut up the silversides into pieces no bigger than a No. 2 pencil eraser. When it's ready to eat, it will grab the food - its tentacles should be sticky enough to do so.

This would be my recommendation also.

Re: Bulb Anemone Is CRAZY!

I have a Green Bulb Anemone and the first couple of days it moved around until it go happy in a rock it felt safe in. It tend to like rocks that have hole in them big enough for it retreat from current, hermit crabs, etc. It does not like any force in the flow of water, but seems to like lots of flow.
Anyway, after a while it picked a rock and hasn't moved since (6 months). I have however moved the rock closer to the lights.
I feed it stored bought shrimp about once or twice a week. Usually, only a finger nail size slice.
BTW, if you have any powerheads or pumps with any thing larger than the thickness of a quarter, they can get sucked in while moving around.

I'm sorry for your loss! Your anemone sounds like a brother to mine. I have my powerhead intake covered, but he seems to like it very much. I got tired of not seeing his beautiful green tentacles so I finally moved the intake to the other side of the tank with rocks surrounding it.

He seems to have found a good spot on the side of the tank now, and my clowns are happy he's stopped moving!
