Bulb Change Q?

How fast do you remove the screens after doing a bulb change? I put 3 layers of window screen inbetween the bulbs and the water. One a day ok? of is slower better. I don't want to shock anything and these bulbs are a heck of a lot brighter than what came with the fixture. Sorry it is a 6 bulb t-5 set up.

Slower is definitely better.

I would wait at least a couple of days before removing each screen.

The risk of shocking with too much light is WAY more than the risk of light-starving them, at least with your light.

Keep a close eye on them as you remove the screens. If they start changing color or keep polyps retracted more than normal, add a screen or two back.

Generally I have not had a lot of problem with light shock on T5s. I have never run halides before, but I know they tend to be more of a light-shock risk at a bulb change.

Thanks, I was trying to be safe! So far so good. it is amazing the color that I have with the new bulbs and configuration. The t5 thread is awesome! I knew the stock bulbs that came w/ the fixture weren't very good but man. My wife asked if I had bought some new stuff and did't tell her, becouse of the pop in colors. Thanks again for the help.
