Bulging eye of Domino Damsel Fish

Hi, i am a new member to this site and i found it through google.

I am basically new to the hobby of saltwater aquarium keeping. I have a 35 gallon tank of just live sand and live rock. It is around 4 months old. I've been researching the net, trying to learn as much as I can. I was led to this site because I'm now worried about my domino damself fish who has one bulging eye. I researched first around the net to find out this is "pop-eye" and that it is a bacterial infection. However I got confused to which treatment i should use since this condition seems to be associated with different sicknesses which also have different treatments.

A few days ago I noticed that one of his fins has a white mark on it (the part connecting to the body), it looked kinda damaged. I am not sure if it is ich. It kinda looks like a wound but with something white. Now that he has a bulging eye, he seems to have difficulty breathing, and also shows loss of color (I am only able to observe these now that i have researched some symptoms on the net. If I hadnt, I may not have noticed).

How do I save him? And why did he get sick? My problem is that I do not have a quarantine or hospital tank. Will the other fishes get infected too? I have 2 other clownfish, a koran angelfish, and 2 hermit crabs. Please help....

Oh by the way, water parameters are fine and i religiously check them every week. Thanks in advance for your help!

Most "bulging" eye issues are a bacterial problem usually the result of an injury (netting, fighting etc) and many will clear up on their own ... if you don't see progress then QT combined with the use of an antibiotic may be warranted. Maracyn 2 is an antibiotic that is readily available and should help.

Primafix and Melafix are herbal remedies that some would argue are worthless ... while they may have some limited benefit they don't fall into the same category as antibiotics.

For me i have nothing but good things to say about the product. My sohal had a sore that was from running into one of my rocks and after treatment for about 3 days its almost completely gone.

Popeye is a bacterial infection, left untreated will cause loss of eye. Purchase a 10 gal tank and a small box filter and 50 watt heater. Use half water from tank and make up the rest. Don't use carbon just mechanical filtration. Don't feed during treatment. Since sick tank will have no bio filter Ammonia will buildup fast. Keep an eye on the level. Use Amquel to neutralize and water changes. Have salt water ready to replace old water. I recommend Furan 2 very good, just came out and is in easy to open packets. No pulling apart pills with wet hands. Treat for seven days or until better.
