I'm looking to start a Bulk Reef Supply group order. If interested just reply to this thread and I'll keep count and coordinate.

For those who are not familiar with the group buy here is the info from the site:

We have a unique way of doing Group Buy's at BulkReefSupply.com. Instead of requiring groups to place a single large order we give each group buy participant individual access to our lowest prices. There are no purchase quantity or order size requirements. Each participant gets the lowest prices even if they only buy one item. This removes the need to organize one big bulk order, collect all the payments, and distribute the order. And this also means Group Buys at BulkReefSupply are not limited to local clubs! That's right, because orders are shipped separately group buys can involve people from all over the country and Canada.

To set up a Group Buy with BulkReefSupply.com simply:
•Gather a minimum of 10 participants
•Instruct everyone to create an account on BulkReefSupply.com if they don't have one already
•Pick a Tuesday the group buy will start. Group buys run Tuesdays through the following Monday.
•Send a "master list" of everyone participating to GroupBuys@BulkReefSupply.com that includes the following:
•First and last name (please do not include forum nicknames/handles)
•Email address associated with each participants BulkReefSupply.com's email address
•The name of the group buy and it's start date. For example, "nameofgroup May 18th 2009"
Then what? Here is what will happen after your list is emailed:
•On the pre-determined Tuesday each participant will receive an email notifying them that the Group Buy has started.
•Participants can start buying as soon as they get this email. Please wait for this email before placing orders!
•During the group buy week participants will login to their own account to place their own order, which ships immediately.
•At the end of the Group Buy each participant's account will be changed to Preferred Customer. BRS Preferred Customer pricing is generally between our retail and group buy prices. This permanent upgrade is our way of saying thanks for getting your reef supplies with us!

I thought I'd leave it open at least until middle of next week. The discount will run for a week and BRS only starts it on Tuesdays and I don't think we'll have 10 by Monday.

We do them often. and I was running them every few months for a little while. I palnned to start up again after elections are over unless the board was going to run them.

On the club site there is a poll that has been up since the swap about what the next group buy should be. If you want to run a BRS order, great by me. We have done it many times before :D

I might be in. I am looking at getting some new lighting. Not to get off topic but would a 48" 8 bulb Tek light be enough for a 110 gal. tank? The tank is a little longer but I don't mind having a little lower light on the sides. I need to get rid of the 400W MHs I have. The electric bill is killing me.

Michael, that should be a good amount of light for a 110. Just make sure the light isn't deeper than the tank (I don't think that the Tek is, but a retrofit with larger reflector would be).

Good point, I hadn't thought of that. It looks like it will be 1" wider than the tank. It looks like the fixture extends well beyond the bulbs so that probably wouldn't be a problem. I really haven't been up on lighting for several years so I don't know much about T5. When I got my MH lights the trend was the higher the wattage the better. I almost think I have too much light at times.
