I am think of getting their 5 stage ro/di PLUS unit, its a 5 stage with dual TDS moniters. Anyone out their using this or any other bulk reef supply ro/di units. They seem to be a nice unit, just wondering what others think.

thanks

Glad you asked this because i was just contemplating the same unit. Looks like a quality piece of equipment and would be nice to hear from some one who's used it.

I nearly bought the same unit but ended up going with ReefGeek since there was things the geek had that bulk didn't, and I could combine shipping. That was a couple weeks ago, and I LOVE the RO/DI.

However I would not hesitate to order from bulkreefsupply, I've ordered their chemicals before and they are certainly good do work with.

I love the dual TDS as well, but I don't know if... and how often.... they need to be calibrated..... and when to know they need it.

I have a 7 stage from Bulk reek Supply. Awesome unit. I havent seen it on their site in a while though.

As for calibration concerns, they carry TDS calibration solution for about $5.00. It may not be on the site but give them a call.

I like to test/calibrate when new & once every couple of months. This would hold true for any ph,tds or salinity intrument I own.

I have dealt with BRS several times in the last few months & I agree they are great to deal with.

I just this afternoon received the exact system from Bulk Reef Supply.Very happy with the system, very easy to install, packaged extremely well, and quality parts throughout.I highly recommend this system.I ordered it Friday,March 20th and received unit on Wednesday March 25th.They e-mailed me tracking number as soon as unit was shipped.I was very impressed.

I encourage folks not to be overly concerned with the number of stages - that is, don't get caught up in the line of thinking that "more stages = a better system."

Think about what each stage does, and in what order it is plumbed. In most cases, you shouldn't need for that 4 stages:
sediment filter -> carbon block -> RO membrane -> DI resin

i have the 75gpd premium series from buckeye and no regrets. relatively inexpensive unit, comes with the tds meter and pressure gauge, standard sized canisters for easy inexpensive replacement, and makes 0 tds water. i use a booster pump since my apartment water pressure sucks and i get around 5g/hr out of it.

a hand held tds meter is far more useful than the mounted tds meters, i ended up purchasing from buckeye field supply

clear housings
1-micron poly depth sediment filter
0.6-micron, 20,000 gallon carbon block
Filmtec RO membrane (50, 75, 100, gpd) or Buckeye brand membrane (150 gpd )
aluminum bracket
pressure gauge and thermometer
housing wrench
drain saddle
6 feet of tubing for supply water, for drain line, and for purified water
handheld TDS3 TDS meter by HM Digital
RO flush valve
DI bypass valve.

$169

We stock both the inline and the handheld tds meters and both seem to have their strong points.

The inline meters are tops in convenience - always there, always ready to provide a reading, and they don't require taking water samples

Handhelds allow you get get readings from all three locations where you'll need it (tap water, RO water, and DI water) and they offer better precision.
