I have 2-2" drains and 2-1 1/2" returns and 1-1 1/2 drain/refill that is used for large water changes on my 300. With drains bigger is always better as you want to minimize your chances of a clog caused by snails, fish, Murphy or whatever. Also, in the future if your needs change it is easier to restrict a larger pipe than it is to add a larger hole.
My drains are large enough that if one should become completely clogged the other one can handle the full flow of my return pump.
Also, use the drain calculator on the RC home page. That should help.
