Bulkhead question on a new build

I've been trying to do google searches and have come up with different opinions. Just trying to get as much info before I begin assembly.

I've got a 75g tank that I just drilled 2, 1.5" holes for an external overflow. This is like the Reef Savvy ghost style overflow setup. Kit comes with 4 gaskets (2 for each side). I know that I'll need to put 1 set of gaskets on the inside of the tank then another set on the outside of the tank. Finishing up with the external box.

My question is does anyone add tank safe silicone around the bulkhead to fill in the gap left when drilling the tank? I'm not talking about adding silicone to the gasket, just to fill in the gap clearance between the tank hole and the outside of the bulkhead. Just trying to be as leak safe as possible. Hope I'm explaining it correctly so people can undertand?

I've never used silicone on my bulkheads and haven't had leak problems. One reason to not silicone is that you might want/need to remove the bulkheads for maintenance and cleaning up the silicone is a major PITA and can lead to drips on reinstall.

I would leave the silicone off. Install the bulkheads hand tight and then do a leak test (sometimes I get a small drip at only hand tight). If you get any drips, just start with a 1/8 turn with a set of channel locks. Don't overtighten!

No silicone is required. The gasket goes on the wet side and they just need a good hand tightening and maybe just a smidge more.
