Bulkhead Question?

This is my first drilled tank. I bought it used and has 1 single overflow in the center of the tank. It is 72x18x28. The overflow has 2 holes in it and I would like to use them both as drains. I measured the holes and they are between 1.5" and 1.75. I am unsure as to what size bulkheads I need to order. Also the holes are drilled into the back of the glass. Will this be a problem when I do plumbing? I would like to use Durso pipes if possible. Thanks

Different bulkheads have different size hole requirements. It really depends on the brand and if the bulkhead is sched 40 or sched 80. You need to know exactly how big those holes are...a 1/4" difference is too big a margin of error to suggest what bulkhead may fit in there. Re-measure the holes and then go to savko.com and look at the bulkheads they have there...they all have the recommended hole sizes next to them.

You should be fine with the hole on the back glass providing it is not right at the top. How many inches from the top and bottom is it? If the hole is near the top you will probably want to use what is called an "external durso"....basically the elbow of the durso is in the overflow and the T is outside the tank. Do a search and you should be able to find some pictures of some. If the hole is near the bottom you will probably do a normal durso with an extra 90 elbow at the bottom to exit the side.
