Bulkhead question

So, I had to muscle a couple of old bulkheads off the tank in really bad positions (a hammer and chisel were involved). Now, they could have already been there, but I noticed a chip in the glass right on the rim of the hole near 2 of the bulkheads - one is pretty good size.

Do you guys think that the rubber seal is good enough to seal, or do I try to "repair" the glass somehow - and how?

Perhaps some windshield chip repair stuff might help before putting another bulkhead in or strong silicone... never had to repair glass before (except on the car). That should at least keep it from spidering or growing, especially with the pressure of the water and the new bulkhead pressing on the seam of the crack.
