Bulkhead Question

I have a really stupid question about bulkheads. Which side of the tank does the gasket go on? I think I read somewhere that it doesn't matter, but I was wondering if people prefer to put it on the inside or outside of the tank?

The gasket goes on the water side (inside the tank). Just make sure the gasket and where the gasket meets the bottom of the tank is free from debris.

i agree with the above answers only if the flange (head) of the bulkhead is on the water side. the key thing to remember is that the gasket MUST always be against the flange (head) of the bulkhead and never against the lock-nut.

Absolutely right! :D Usually the flange side is typically always on the inside of the tank and the nut is on the outside, but sometimes a certain application warrants the opposite.
