Bulkhead size for sump/pump

Hey

I need help.

I need to buy a bulkhead for my sump. I have a reeflo hammerhead gold inline pump and it has a 1.5 inch inlet and outlet. I need a bulkhead to fit inline with my pump.

What size bulkhead do I need for a 1.5 inch inlet for my pump. Thank you!!!!

1 1/2" bulkhead hole size will depend on which brand of bulkhead you buy:) Most places that sale bulkhead's has a sizing chart for hole size needed.

That is correct. A 1 1/2" bulkhead will accept 1 1/2" PVC. The hole you need to cut to install the bulkhead may vary slightly from manufacturer to manufacturer, but in my experience if it does it's not much (and never caused me to cut a different sized hole). Still it makes sense to double check. The important difference is between sch 40 and sch 80 fittings, they do have significantly different installation ODs. IIRC the correct installation hole size for a 1 1/2" sch 40 bulkhead should be 2 3/8".

Thank you very much for the clarification!

It's confusing.

Should I get sch 40 or 80?

Whats the difference?

sch 80 is a much more robust product, more expensive, requires a larger install hole saw... Sch 40 and 80 refers to wall thickness of the pipe, and consequently the acceptable working pressures. Sch 40 is completely adequate for almost anything we need, even in larger systems. It's pressure rating is 280 psi IIRC.
