Bumps on my hippo

I have had her since she was about 3/4" and now 31/2-4" she has always had a couple little bumbs on her side but nothing white. I noticed yesterday that the spots have turned white and today she has a couple on her fins. My tank is a 215 with total of 280 total. I have a very peaceful group of fish and all have gone through a QT. Is this ICK. She eats great and swims the tank with no noted problems. She has also moved her cave to a much tighter spot. I have read that the hippos get little bumbs on them and may even turn a little white from rubbing on rocks but they have appeared on the fins. Any thoughts. I will get a picture up tonight. Thanks

Just tried to get a couple shots and she is way to fast. I will try again. The spots are getting lighter tonight. I looked at velvet also but she is very active and gills aren't moving real fast. Still eating like a pig!!!!!!!!!!

if you qt all your fish then I way say your chances of ich are slim. Probably just from rubbing on the rocks, but I would monitor her and all other fish for a while. You'll be able to get alot better help when you get a pic up though.

How do you QT your fish? Do you treat them all or only treat if you see something?

Without seeing a picture its hard to tell. If its only a spot or 2 I would not worry to much. Usually ich will be a great deal more than 1 or 2 spots.

The spots are gone this morning. I did get a picture but didnt have time to down load it before I had to go to work at the firedepartment. I will post it tomorrow.

She had about 10 spots on each side.

When I qt I put the fish in the QT for a min of 2 weeks at 82 degrees and a sg of 1.025 if I see something then I treat and the fish stays in QT for atleast 21 days from the day of infest. Should I be doing copper treatment even thouh they dont show signs for the 14 days?

That is your call with the copper...If your asking me for my opinion then yes. After having to tear apart my 300 twice now due to ich I want to make sure I increase my chances of never introducing it to my main tank. I will treat all new fish in cupramine at .5 for 4 weeks.

Sounds a bit like ich to me...
IMO if she is still eating and acting normally then its nothing to worry about. Although I would try and determine if there is anything that could be stressing the animal. Ich is generally brought out by stress.

Sounds cool. I mean why not because they are already in a qt. RBU1 you do copper for the full 4 weeks or just a portion of the time?

sedor, all of my other fish are real cool and dont chase, bite or fight. All water levels are spot on with no big swings. I look at my Apex every night to make sure no big ph or temp swings. Do mag, alk and cal test evry 2-3 nights and I have those spot on, had to figure tank usage over the last month for dosing, none of them got out of control. Nothing in my tank has ever had ich. I have added some corals and a couple sally litefoot crabs over the last couple weeks that went straight into the tank. I have no way to qt them at this time, my frag tank is attatched to the main display, this may have been the way it got into the tank. I will post a picture tomorrow.
