Anyone ever kept these? Chaetodon burgessi or Prognathodes aculeatus

Which of them is more reef safe in your experience?

Also which has more interesting behavior?

Since no one else responded, I've kept the Atlantic long nose but only for about 5 - 6 months. Like a traditional yellow long nose you need to make sure he gets enough food. This fish didn't annoy any corals, but was always searching crevices for food. While not fragile, I'd imagine he wouldn't respond well to being bullied.

I haven't kept a burgess at all, but I think they're two very different species. The long nose stays comparatively small, is harder to ensure he gets enough to eat, doesn't like other long nose butterflies but appears to leave coral alone.

Burgess get pretty big and probably have appetites to match but are easy to feed. Even at LFS they appear to eat most foods offered with gusto. How do they get on with other butterflies - tbh don't know. The hardest part may be selecting the right one for your circumstances.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do :wavehand:

Prognathodes aculeatus for both questions
