Buried brain? (And another LPS question)

Hey everyone,

I have a brain coral (Tach..?) I believe and my gobies seem to enjoy burying it. Can this coral unbury itself or do I have to put it up on rocks somewhere? My tongue coral inflates itself and removes all sand periodically.

Here's a pic of the coral:

I think that as a I transition to mostly SPS with 40-60x flow I'll be forced to get rid of the gobies anyway :( I just want to make sure this coral survives until then!

I had another question as well:

I've never seen ANY of my LPS corals have sweeper tentacles. As far as I can tell my branching frogspawn/torch can't even eat food or don't react to it at least. Is this normal? All corals seem to be doing well/growing.

GuOD- It cannot unbury itself. Move it up some if the problem continues. What kind of LPS are you referring to regarding the sweepers?? The frogspawn/torch can eat with the regular tentacles that are present. Some like to eat more than others. Squirt some mysis or brine onto them and they will respond if they are hungry. You might have better luck if you turn off the pumps while feeding.

Marls- That's not Favites.

I've moved it up onto a rock - though it's still not perfect since my gobies swim around and spit sand everywhere.

My moon coral has never ever shown sweeper tentacles. It just appears to sort of shrivel up a bit at night. My frogspawn/torch have never eaten (that i've seen) even when spot feeding brine/mysis with pumps off.

Like I said before some like to eat more than others. I assume yours are getting all the nutrition they need otherwise and don't feel the need to eat when you try and feed them. As long as they are doing well that's a good thing I guess. As far as the sweepers go most people would consider that a blessing. You don't have to worry too much about it stinging anything around it. Good luck with those gobies.
