Roger,

I came home tonight to find that my skimmer was not working. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and still nothing. I disassembled everything to clean it, and when I took the motor out I noticed it was fairly warm. I opened it up and found I couldn't pull the impeller out. I wasn't sure what was going on, since I have never serviced it yet in the two months that I have had it so I tugged and finally the impeller came out. I noticed the impeller and the magnet seemed a little worn, but not to bad. I looked in the well to clean it out and that's when I noticed a large blob of melted plastic impeller well wall sticking out into the center. What do I need to get a new motor block, and do I need an new impeller assembly since it seems kind of worn? I guess it super-heated in the well which almost fused the pieces together. Lucky for me the pump turns itself off during a malfunction or this could have possibly cause a fire!

Our pumps have numerous safeties including thermostatic switches to turn them off when they overheat so a fire is not too likely. PM me an address and I will send a new motor. This was a defect that occured in some pumps made earlier this year.
