burnt tips with stable alk???

pciscott

Pirates Cove Reef
Burnt tips yet my alk is steady, what else can cause burnt tips?

The parameters.
Alk 8.6 Salifert, 8 red sea, 8 Hannah checker
Cal 400
Mag 1450
P04 .03 hanna low range meter
Nitrate 5 red sea low range
Temp 76
Salt .0026

Not every coral burned, and colors look good?

I have been dosing pohls extra, b balance, and k balance at half recommended dosage every other day, I use the Fauna balling method for ca, alk, and mag.

My Elos potasium kit is acting up and was going to buy a red sea kit today, I think potasium may be a little high.

Thanks for any advice.

You sure it isn't growth tips? The reason I ask is my rose millie growth tip are very white, and could be mistaken for alk burn. Unless you are running an ULNS, 8-8.6 alk shouldn't burn tips.

+1 for Kbal, I went through the same thing as you.
As I find it hard to read the KZ test kit its very hard to judge levels.
As my monti's begin to pail I'd add more, if tips burn I'd stop. After months of fine tuning I have found 2.5 ml per day on my 1300ltr system works well.
(far less than the recomended dose) Hope this helps...

I can't believe how bad the KZ potassium test kit is to read. I just recently bought one even though I had read threads telling of its difficult to read color strip.

These threads were two years old,and I figured by now they would've improved the test......but no, it is the same hard to interpret color strip.

The ELos Potassium test kit is easier to read, and Red Sea has a titration method potassium kit...
